This week, I had the good fortune to spend a few days at the beach on a mini writing retreat. I got up early and walked the beach with my dog Allie. We played in the surf, looked at (in her case chased) birds, and hunted for treasures.
Every time I walk the beach, I think of my dad. This week's podcast was recorded on an early-morning beach walk. This week's photos were all taken with my iPhone on our walks. In JOY and gratitude.

And here are a few iPhone pictures that I hope will capture the joy of this beach!
Sunrise: It always takes me a moment to get used to seeing the sun RISE over the ocean.
The Way to Blue: Every time I walked to the beach, my heart leapt in joy as I glimpsed the ocean on this path!
Blue Storm: The first day was stormy, and glorious, and blue, and powerful!
Beach Treasures: Every day I gathered, and every day I came back and laid them out in wonder. My beach treasures!
Me and My Shadows: Joy is being on a beach with your dog. Period. The end.
Blue Fun: Allie had SO MUCH FUN on the beach!!! She never wanted to leave. Neither did I!
Golden Light: Allie loves rocks. I love Allie on rocks. This photo makes me happy!
Blue Detritus: I'm always amazed at what washes up on a beach. Even trash can be beautiful.
Blue Morning: My last morning walk. All blue. For those of you who haven't found the joy of playing with Prisma on your iPhone, you're missing out!
A lifetime of joy can unfold in a few days by the ocean! I feel so grateful to have had this brief but glorious gift of the sea.
